Purpose Statement

"Our band could be your life.
Real names'd be proof"

My record collection is neither monumental nor tantalizing.  Yeah, I have a couple of rarities, some real gems; but I also have complete trash, and things that I actively dislike, that I can't seem to get rid of.
I fetishize records.  I feel sorry for them.  I care deeply for them.
They have their own stories, journeys; they co-mingle with mine.
Records are totems for me.
I love listening to them.
I like to organize them.
I love hunting for them.
I like to look at them.
I appreciate them as objects.
I associate certain times of my life with certain records.
Oh, and I have opinions about many things, which I will try to temper with kindness and understanding.

Dick: I guess it looks as if you're reorganizing your records. What is this though? Chronological?
Rob: No...
Dick: Not alphabetical...
Rob: Nope.
Dick: What?
Rob: Autobiographical...If I want to find the song “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac, I have to remember that I bought it for someone in the fall of 1983 pile but didn’t give it to them for personal reasons.
Dick: That sounds...
Rob: Comforting.
